Predynastic settlements in the Egyptian Western Desert, once on the shores of a Neolithic lake, with rock art, tracing the variety of animals as well as humans who lived or passed by en-routes between the Sahara and the Nile Valley, center on Farafra, south-west of Fayum. Several boats depicted in the rocks attest to the prevalence of lakes at that time.
